Kiparin Beach & Kipari Nature Reserve

Located in Rautavaara, North Savo, Kipari is a versatile hiking destination. The absolute attraction of the Kipari Nature Reserve is the 14-metre-high observation tower on top of Kipari mountain.

The address of the parking lot of the Kipari outdoor recreation area is Kiparintie 738, Rautavaara. There are signposts and information boards at the parking area. A map of the Kipari outdoor area can also be found behind this link.

Vaarojen majat, Kipari Tentsile
Vaarojen majat are located in the Kipari beach area. Kipari beach is owned by the municipality of Rautavaara. Vaarojen majat has lease agreement for the rental of tree tents at this location. There is a composting toilet on the site for the use for the customers only. The toilet is locked at all other times.

Kipari beach
Kipari Beach has approximately 300 metres of sandy beach. Part of the beach is shallow, while the south-facing shore deepens abruptly. The beach is owned by the municipality of Rautavaara but is not maintained by the municipality.

Kiparinvuori lookout tower
Kipar's absolute attraction is the 14-metre-high observation tower on top of Kiparivuori. The view from the tower overlooks Lake Keyritty. From the tower you can explore the beautifully hilly landscape and on a clear day you can easily see the slopes of Tahko, Pisavuori and the peaks of Vuokatinvaara. The path to the Näkötorn is a wide sandy path, which has been used as the base for a natural sledge run since the late 1980s. At the end, a short distance, you take the stairs. The tower will be operational in 2022 and its top platform will rise above the treetops!

Kipari Nature Reserve
The Kiparin-Paljakan area is included in the Southern Finland Forest Biodiversity Programme METSO. The Kipari nature reserve was established in 2017. Part of the Kipari loop trail runs through the area. Explore the nature of Kipari through this link.

The Kiparik Tour
The Kipari loop is a 2.2 km long ring trail, which is recommended to be walked in a counter-clockwise direction. There are longitudinal trees in the wettest parts of the route. Rest benches can be found along the way.

The downhill cycle route is about 0,8 km long.

Hiekkahäikän beach
A sandy beach run by the municipality of Rautavaara is a stone's throw away. Hiekkahäikä beach has changing rooms, a covered campfire site and a hut.

Other accommodation in the area
Near Kiparinranta you can rent a modern cottage with all amenities, Luonto-Keyritty, which was completed in 2020. The cottage has a separate lakeside sauna. The cottage overlooks Lake Keyritty. Take a look at the cottage on the Lomarengas website and combine Tentsile accommodation with your cottage holiday. The distance between Tentsile at Kiparinranta and Nature Keyritty is 1,2km.
